JEF Burger is my favourite. I love their goya burger, its the best burger I ever had. It sounds like you had a bad experience, normally you get salad & mayo with it too. The goya rings are not so good though. The tiny heiwadori branch you visited is a bit ghetto, but the other branches are just as you describe retro-50's style drive thru.

I can't move away from the fact that you aren't impressed with Okinawa's beaches. Wow -- that's a first -- grew up in Okinawa (born and raised) and have been back 3 times since and will go again later this year, and think the beaches are beautiful. That water color just blows me away. Back to the subject though, didn't get a chance to try the goya burger anywhere, but will do a search when we go back. Could be good I think. Your post was fun to read -- thanks.

[...] To be honest, the first time I visited T’s, I baulked at their “slow food” sign (pictured). I was in a hurry and all I wanted was my fix. Even takeaway was fine. But the clock was ticking away and so I had to suppress the urge, swearing to come back again another day. After all, this guy seemed serious about his hamburgers… How could I continue my search for the ultimate Japanese hamburger without trying one of T’s. (If you haven’t read the previous installments then you might like to read my reviews of Awajishima Burger and Okinawa Jef Hamburger.) [...]

Okay, these posts are several months old, but just in case you make it back to Okinawa soon and are in the mood for burgers, you have to try Jet City Burgers in Sunabe and Freshness Burger (there are 2 locations, one in Naha near the DFS mall and one in Chatan at American Village in the Ferris wheel building). I've never eaten at Jef Burger, but if you're cruising at A&W for burgers, I implore you to put the Mozza Burger down and go somewhere good!

Gordies by the Sunabe seawall in Chatan is one of 2 or 3 burger joints worth mentioning in Okinawa, Kangaroos has already been covered. Mos burger doesn't even show as a blip.

Drive to the north end of the seawall, take the last right. It will be on your right after the park, small place looks like old military base housing that's been converted.
Double with cheese. You WILL be blown away.

Did you try the MOS Burger in Urasoe?

I was confused when I first went there... I was the thinking the burger might be made of moose.

It's not.

MOS stands for "MOUNTAIN OCEAN SKY" which I guess are somehow incorporated into the burger.

The burgers aren't bad, but then again, as an American, I could get "Burger King" (oddly called, "KINGU BAAAAGGAA" by the Japanese)... which was cheaper and more familiar.

Honestly, I am crazy about ramen. I'd leap over a table of free bugers to get to a good bowl of ramen.

Goto Kangaroo Jack's on 58 in Nago, you passed it on the way to the aquarium.

After getting to the Nago 58, and 330 intersection bear to the left you will see it right after the baseball fields on the left, It sits on a beach, the op is correct in that the south side of the island beaches have been destroyed by Naichaa construction, the North end of the island still has the most beautiful oceans in the world.
