Hi, I have an AU iPhone 4S which I’d like to continue using in the US when I return. After reading the above comments, I realize AU is using the CDMA network, so I guess that means I would have to use Verizon. So my question is is it possible to activate my AU iPhone in the US how do I go about doing it.

I think there was some discussion on this page about push email not being available with B-mobile. I am using the gmail app for my email and a B-mobile subscriber. gmail recently updated their app and since then I am getting push email!!

I was happy for about 5 minutes. Now I think it irritates me more. It reminds me of my days of being chained to my blackberry for work but I can see how people who don’t get much email would like it.

Ok here is the inside on Softbank vs AU. AU has been around and connectivity has been the best along with Docomo. Both docomo and au serve 8m antennas where SB has only been allowed 3-4 max. The reason for such a low connection was licensing issues. The Japanese gov only issues the license to solid companies who have proven they are here to last. Before SB came into the picture the carrier changed numerous times since 1999 when I first arrived in Japan.

The good news is SB finally got the license and will be setting up 8m antennas through out Japan in addition to the little ones they already have scattered about. The CEO of SB Song has given a rough time frame for the antennas to be up and running by September 2012.

Then it should be the front runner in Japan.
