That write up makes me feel better about all the paranoia about the Japanese buying up US companies back in the 80s. Turnabout, fair play, etc.

Soteiguy,
I think you'll find Kansa Hojin addicting to. Check out the first episode and some of stippy's thoughts here:

Has anyone been watching the latest NHK drama on Saturday nights? The press has been writing it up as if it is the next best thing since Hagetaka. I think the same guy might have written it (?) The dorama is called "Kansahojin" (監査法人) and is about people who work for an auditing firm that is cooking the books at one of its major clients. Pretty topical (although a bit last year, if you ask me) and realistic. Anyone seen it? Worth watching?

I'd be interested to have it as one of my few collections.
I really appreciate if you're willing to share it with us.
However, I'm still surprised that the whole drama only consist of 6 episodes.

Yes, it is one of the only Japanese dramas that I too was totally and utterly hooked on. I have all 6 episodes, and if the good folks here at stippy want to put it up somewhere, I could provide it. How many people would be interested?

Just had the chance to watch the first episode a week ago from a friend, and no word can express of how attached I was to the screen.
I rarely watch drama and only a few can keep me attached to it, and I'd say that this is definitely a very nice drama and worth watching.

Interestingly this drama reminded me a lot about the whole RJR battle and the involvement of private equity funds for good and bad reasons in the restructuring of companies. If you haven't read Barbarians at the gate then take a look at the review that we posted last year of it. It's an old book from an American perspective but it totally explains exactly what is happening in Japanese boardrooms today. I guarantee you the guys at Sapporo Beer will have been buying the Japanese version.

Almost jumpd on the band wagon to say "hagetaka" translates to bald eagle. But the Mrs intervened.... shows how average my nihongo is.

Sounds like an interesting enough Xenophobic show. I worked with a few of the companies behind the Shinsei and Tokyo Star "rebirths" and it blew me away when I first rocked on down to their offices and met the level of security there. Pretty hard core.

Kind of like the Akasaka Whatsit beside the US Embassy. They apparently get some hard core yakuza types popping round for visits as the real estate biz and M&A biz gets murky and crosses their turf on many an occasion. A couple of good vids on You tube actually... hold on... can't be arsed digging up the really good ones but here is something to start on:

I think you'll find it was FujiTV which had been subject to the livedoor offer... NHK is still very staid and govt owned.

It was a great series though - pity about the suitcases of cash ruining the "reality" of the show.
